automatically record corresponding entries

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby burleighjon » Mon Oct 12, 2015 4:18 pm

OK, somehow I screwed up, when I imported transactions from Fidelity somehow i did not check the "automatically record the corresponding entries in the default cash account." A suggestion and a question

The suggestion: I feel like FM has some "landmine" tick boxes that ought to be buried somewhere so not to screw up the regular user when they are ticked by mistake. FM is great but why the heck would this box exist except for some extreme / abnormal situation? Really guys, who would not want a cash dividend not recorded in a cash account? Want am I missing?

The question: is there a way I can re-download the transactions and get the accounting right? I can plug an adjustment in cash but then my income statistics will be off.

Ugh

Hi burleighjon,

Sorry about the troubles. If you're using Fund Manager 2016 the easiest thing would be to use "File / File Operations / Re-Create Default Cash Transactions...".

Thanks for the feedback on making this more difficult to turn off, I do see your point.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, I do think expanding the options dialogue box would help, having a long list of options indicating what is default setting. Thanks
