Tax on dividends

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby edicrus » Fri Oct 30, 2015 9:51 am

I register for each gross dividend flow received the corresponding amount of tax payed as distribution type "Local Tax" with negative number.

Is there a way to see the performance of the portfolio on a gross basis .... excluding the tax component?

Kind Regards

Hi edicrus,

If you use the "Account Fees" distribution type for your "Local Tax", you can do this by turning off "Options / General Preferences... / Yields / Include Account Fees in Yield Calculations". That is the only distribution type you can optionally exclude from yield calculations.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks.
Can this be changed dynamically once the report has been run.. or should be changed only in general settings before running the report?

Hi edicrus,

You can change that option at any time. Any existing reports will automatically be updated to reflect the change in that option.
Thanks,
Mark

There is one big problem in using Account fees... the cost base is impacted and move all values out of line.

You should consider to implement the consept of gross and net yield letting exclude from portfolio yield calculation another type of distribution without impacting the cost base.

Hi edicrus,

Okay, thanks for the idea. If you want, you can turn off the option that includes account fees in your tax cost basis. From within any report turn off "Options / Report Preferences... / Capital Gains / Include Account Fees in Basis".
Thanks,
Mark
