Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby aviator » Sat Nov 07, 2015 5:27 am

Hi Mark,

Every quarter my broker deducts account fees from my accounts by selling shares of a mutual fund. When I download transactions, the account fee comes down as a redemption which is technically accurate because shares of the mutual fund were sold, the proceeds kept by my broker.

However, in order to properly account for the fees, I have to go into the data register and manually add a distribution transaction (Distribution type = Account Fees, Value = Negative number reflecting the amount of the redemption.)

Is there a way for this to be automated?

Hi aviator,

Unfortunately, if the broker is just reporting a sell I'm not sure of a good way to automate this...
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. May I make a suggestion for the Investment Transactions Report, which I use extensively for account fees (and others)? Would be very nice if this report:

1) Allowed subtotals by date (particularly by quarter, as this is the frequency for fees to be deducted). Currently only subtotals by sub-portfolio is available.

2) Offered a grand total of the amount field for all sub-portfolios.

Thanks.

Hi aviator,

Okay, thanks for the ideas, makes sense. On the totals, you could get those now by not sub-totaling by sub-portfolio. I take it you'd like to see sub-totals as well as overall totals.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I didn't realize I could get the grand total by un-checking the "Subtotal By:" box. That helps, but you're right, it would be more helpful to have the sub-totals by Sub-Portfolio with a grand total at the bottom.
