Yield on Cost field (YOC)
May I suggest that the defined fields be increased to include a yield on cost field. The annual dividend rate of a security divided by the average cost basis of the investment. It shows the dividend yield of the original investment. YOC lets you understand how well your money is actually working for you; it shows you the real earning power of your money over time.
This would be very helpful field since the "Define Fields feature" is only available in the Professional and Advisor versions.
Thank You Terry

Hi Terry, Okay, thanks for the feedback. It sounds like this would be similar to the current Dividend Yield, but instead of dividing by the ending share price, you would divide by your cost/share?

Yes Mark I would think you divide by the adjusted cost base (ACB) Thanks to consider this for us.

Hi Mark,
Can you please suggest what the formula would be to get the annualized yield amount based on the last dividend payment, to get the yield on cost, here is what i have, however might be a better efficient way to do this
((EVAL(ENDDAYS()-90,ENDDAYS(),Distdist_s_btw)*DivFreq)/Taxbasiss_Assigned)*100
where DivFreq is a custom value that includes the number of payments per year
Thanks in advance,

Hi divenvest,
I don't have anything to add to your equation. If you have some more specific issue I can try to help.

Thanks Mark, having challenges in finding out the most recent dividend paid out by a security. For example some pay in the last 90 days, some have semi-annual and some pay twice within 95 days. Do you have any suggestions how to get the most recent dividend paid out irrespective to the frequency?

Hi divinely, I'm out of the office this week. I don't recall if such a field exists, but will take a look when I return.

Hi Mark, I think the following might work, as the eval gives the distribution on most recent based on the last_dist date. ((EVAL(Last_dist,ENDDAYS(),Distdist_s_btw)*DivFreq)/OOPCbasis_s_end)*100
Thanks!
