%Gain-F (btw) in a user-defined field

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Postby Djobydjoba » Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:02 am

Hi Mark,

I look for the way to include "%Gain-F (btw)" in the equation of a user-defined field.

It seems not directly available, so I used the formula: 100*(NAVchange_btw/End_NAV)

But the results are not always the same that "%Gain-F (btw)".

Could you help?

Hi Djobydjoba,

Any differences would be because the %Gain-F includes distributions/share in the equation. The %Gain-F (between) is available for user-defined fields. It is called:

PGainF_btw

The field names can be cryptic sometimes, but if you use the filter by type dropdown at the top of the "Insert Field Into Equation" dialog, that can help find them more easily.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

A question again, It seems a custom field property can be inserted in a equation (in an If function), but this doesn't work for me.

For example, a custom property, text type, labeled "Percent".

IF(Percent == Yes, 100*NAVchange_btw, PGainF_btw)

Return "Invalid equation"...

Hi Djobydjoba,

You can only insert a "Custom Investment Property" into a user-defined equation if that property is designated as a number or a date. If it is assigned to be "text", it won't be available. If you use the "Insert Field..." button, you can pick from any available fields, and any number or date type custom investment properties will be listed, but not the text ones.
Thanks,
Mark
