Stocks moved from one exchange to another

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby roadjackson » Fri Oct 15, 2021 8:47 am

Hi Mark,

I've recently had the option to move Alibaba stocks, which were listed in the United States in USD, to the Hong Kong exchange. This move was done by the company and hence I incurred no fees. Just wondering how I can reflect the change of exchange in my portfolio as I didn't actually sell the shares but maybe that's how I account for the move in FM? I'm familiar with changing the currency in FM so don't need tips on that.

Great software, btw :-)

Many Thanks
B

Hi B,

Since these 2 investments will have different currencies, you would have to move the shares between investments. You can't use the "Transfer Between" wizard because it doesn't support crossing currencies, but you could do the equivalent manually, recording Transfer Out and Transfer In transactions.
Thanks,
Mark
