Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager
by Ron AKA » Fri Oct 22, 2021 11:39 am
For the last couple of days I have been unable to get the current prices for securities. This is the message I get. Any thoughts on how to fix it? I believe I am up to date with my modules.

Hi Ron AKA,
Yes, this server is currently not working, and we're working on an update... Check back under "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...".

Hi Ron AKA, Unfortunately we're not going to be able to support this server anymore. Please try and find your quotes on one of our other quote servers, like maybe Fund Library if you're tracking Canadian funds.

This is disappointing as I spent a lot of time finding a server that supports Canadian mutual funds and Canadian ETF's. I guess I will have to start the painful trial and error process of trying to find another reliable server. Why did Morningstar-CA suddenly stop working?

Hi Ron AKA,
They stopped offering the interface we were using. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I went to the Fund Library site and tried retrieving prices for my investments using the same symbols as Morningstar uses. It worked. So, I changed the default PRC server to Fund Library, and it failed as well. I then tried putting in the detail from the URL for a fund and also for a ETF. It worked for the fund, but not the ETF. I am setting the type for the ETF as "Exchange Traded Fund" from the Fund Manager drop down list of Types.

I've tried that. It seems to work for the one remaining actual Fund that I have in my investment portfolio. However it does not work for the EFT's. See my edited post above with the latest log file.

I muddled my way through it to get things working again. I think I have it. I have set the Default Server for current prices to Canada Stockwatch. That works for all the ETF investments I have, using their standard symbol. I then set the server for the one remaining mutual fund I have to the Fund Library, and then copied the URL detail into the symbol field. I think it is all working now. At least I get no warnings about price retrieval failure when I use the PRC button. I left my HST server as it was using Canada Stockwatch (3M History).

With a little more work and testing I managed to find the elusive symbol for my fund in Canada Stockwatch, and was able to set the default server for current prices to this server, and just change the symbol code to make it work. This eliminates the need to set an alternate server and use the advanced settings for this investment. Now, I pray that nothing changes again....
