Northwestern woes .... again

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby surendar jeyadev » Mon Feb 07, 2022 3:55 pm

Mark,

I wrote in (a long time ago) about not being able to download transactions in an account at Northwestern Mutual. That issue was resolved by a IT person at NW. The problem was at
their end.

Recently, they did some internal reorganisation and I am once more unable to reach the account when I try to download transactions. When I called them, they said that the server I had to connect to was (I will give the exact syntax)

Northwestern Mutual INV SVS - NMIS

Now, NMIS is in the drop down menu (and is the one that I have used so far), but not the one above (assuming that that person is correct!). What can one do to test it out?

Also, the exact message that FM gives when I try to retrieve transactions is
====================
Unknown Error on Signon

There seems to be an issue with your account. Please call Northwestern Mutual Investment
Services at 1-866-950-4644.
=====================

That is the number I called.

Any hints to workaround this problem?

thanks

Hi sj,

We've just released an update. There was a new URL, and we updated the name as well. It is now called:

Northwestern Mutual Inv Svcs-NMIS

Please use "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates..." to get transaction module 253 and give it a try with this one.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, this does not work. Now FM gives the error message "Signon Invalid".

I am not sure if the name is what it should be. I spoke to a generic customer service person. I guess that I need to work through my representative to find a real IT type. I will work on it.

Thanks again.

Mark,

On the whole, it was a molehill that became a mountain.

It looks like there was an issue with the site (the good old NMIS). The
information from the rep was all wrong and I apologise for making you
add a new entry in the list of institutions. You may revert to the old one
as NMIS is working fine today.

I contacted the webservice guys and they said that there have been no
changes and that I should try again. I reverted back to NMIS and, lo and
behold, it all worked.

Thanks again for your quick response.
