How to Recover/Restore from MyData and AutoBackup

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby akahrim » Sun Jul 02, 2023 12:49 pm

Hi Mark...my PC crashed, so I cannot make a backup as per your post "Transferring FM...To A New Computer". I do have the MyData and AutoBackup folders from a cloud service.

Can I reinstall FM and Restore the *.FMB files one at a time, or somehow as a group?

I have depended on FM since 1996 and it would be hard to operate without it.

Please advise how I can Recover/Restore FM.

Thanks
AK

Hi AK,

I'd suggest installing FM, restoring your MyData/AutoBackup folders manually, and then use "File / Open Portfolio..." to open your data from the MyData folder. Assuming it all opens without any errors, you can restore your preferences by using "File / Restore..." and picking one of the recent *.FMB files to restore from. Choose "Global Registry Preferences" and "Only restore selected items", so you're just restoring your preferences, and not any of the data files, which you already have in the MyData folder.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi AK,

Just copy them from wherever you have them (you mentioned you have them in a cloud service?) to where you want to store your data, like on your local hard drive.
Thanks,
Mark
