Mark,
Do you know of any reason historical price retrieve doesn't work today - (Yahoo) default and I
tried most of the others, I keep getting "could not update any investments"

Hi,
The problem is already reported and under investigation: viewtopic.php?f=6&p=26734 viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6617
Hi Jim,
The quote module has been updated to address this problem. Version 607 is available by selecting "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..." from within Fund Manager 2024.
Thanks for the update, which I have now installed.
With the new module, data retrieval is much slower. Is this Yahoo issue?
Hello,
Yes, unfortunately the historical Yahoo servers are slower now. If you are retrieving stocks the marketstack (Historical) or Stooq (Historical) sites are very good. You can also use the regular Yahoo server on a daily basis which is still very fast.
Unfortunately it appears that Yahoo-Historical is still broken. I am finding that only a limited number of symbols will update. I have about about 170 symbols for update, and I am getting a message that more than 100 of them could not be updated. Doing the updates in smaller snipits does seem to work without errors. As indicated, the server download speed is extremely slow. I expect I will need to schedule an update daily using the Yahoo-RealTime.
Hi Allan,
Are you getting any error messages? If you're going to schedule daily updates, I'd suggest using Yahoo instead of Yahoo (Real-Time). Yahoo is faster. BTW, we have instructions for automating this here: https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/hel ... mline.html
I was running Yahoo Historical with a 10 day spread. The download cycles twice - once for splits and another for prices. I ran the update using quote module 608 - I have since loaded 609, but have not rerun the test.
On the pop-up there is a warning that "One or more servers were unable to retrieve prices", and the first 5 were listed with "plus xxx more". Within the log file there was a warning for each of the tickers where the price / split was not updated. Thanks - I will use the plain Yahoo rather than the Realtime
Hi Allan,
If you look on Yahoo for one of the symbols that didn't update prices, does Yahoo show historical prices for that symbol? For example: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/INTC/history/ Shows the historical price data for INTC. Maybe some of the symbols you are using don't have historical data anymore on Yahoo? If you have some symbol that fails to retrieve, but you see it on Yahoo's site with your browser, please let me know what symbol has this problem. The warning about not being able to update splits is probably normal, unless there was an actual split. It should probably be an "Information" instead of a "Warning" in the log...

Hi Allan,
Can you try retrieving just 1 quote, however you need to to make it fail, and then email me the detailed log file (Help / Logs / Price Retrieve (Detailed)...) as an attachment?
As I indicated initially doing the updates in smaller snipits does seem to work without errors. Running with one ticker will not generate a failure. It does appear that a number of failures with the Retrieve Splits results in a failure to update the pricing data, however I do not know what the threshold is. Looks like the threshold is somewhere between 20 and 100 stocks.
I tried attaching the log from when I ran the update with about 150 stock tickers, but it looks like the file is too large - getting a secure connection error. The file is 1.8GB.
Hi Allan,
Okay, let me try to reproduce it here, instead of sending that huge log file. What date range are you using? Are you only retrieving prices and splits (no distributions)?
Hi Allan,
I was able to reproduce this problem here too. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of a good way to fix it. It seems to be Yahoo not returning the desired data in some cases, most often after having received many requests. The error code is basically saying the data has moved, and redirects to a page without the data. Requesting it by itself a few minutes later results in the correct data. For now, I would suggest making requests in smaller chunks, and if possible turn off the option to retrieve splits / distributions as each of those are their own separate request. If retrieving historical data is a common thing you do for many investments you might want to look at some of our other historical quote servers.
