Unable to update

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby larryw » Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:22 am

I've switched to Tiingo Historical and thought I was successful to update prices last week. Today when I tried I got an error message that no prices were updated and couldn't update. The log shows all as Unable to Update

In Portfolio Editor the last date modified varied between accounts. The oldest showing 9/27/24 and the most current as 10/4/24.

Any ideas what's going on?

Hi Larryw,

Tiingo (Historical) is working okay from here. What is an example ticker and date range that fails to update? If you look in the "Detailed" price retrieve log, does it offer any clues?
Thanks,
Mark

I just re-ran and now it seems to be working. Two of the accounts show updates dated 10/7/24 and another shows 10/4/14 which was a mutual fund account that may not update until the next day. I'll check again tomorrow.

My first attempt today was running under Crossover (Wine) on my MacBook but didn't update. This evening I ran under Parallels Windows 10 and that worked OK. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'll let you know later if still having a problem.

I'm beginning to think the problem is running under Crossover with Tiing because I just tried to run history and received the same unable to update message but when I went to Fund Manager running under Parallels Windows 10 it ran without a problem. I didn't have that problem when using Yahoo.

I'll just run under Parallels from now on.

i am experiencing the same "unable to update investments" message for past three days. I do not see a resolution mentioned so how do I correct this?

Hi lichtgg,

I just test retrieved the symbol IEP from both Yahoo (Realtime) and Yahoo (Historical), and it worked on both servers.

1) Are you using quote module 614?

2) If you retrieve just IEP, does it work for you? If not, please email me the detailed price retrieve log file from "Help / Logs / Price Retrieve (Detailed)..." after retrieving just this one quote.
Thanks,
Mark

I am also not able to update any symbols. My last update was for 10/25/24 back on 10/26/24 which is when Quote Module 614 was loaded. I can see results for any symbol for the URL listed in the logfile to finance.yahoo.com using Firefox 132.0.1.

Hi jw,

If you do a retrieve from the regular "Yahoo" quote server, does that work? If you then switch back to "Yahoo (Adjusted Historical)" that you're using now, does it start working again? I suspect the issue is a missing cookie, which may get fixed by doing a Yahoo retrieve once.
Thanks,
Mark
