Automatic Retrieve problem

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Perry » Fri Nov 22, 2024 5:23 pm

When fund manager retrieves prices automatically, I get the following message from fund manager: Failed to open intlog3.txt for writing. Check the file permissions of C:\...

Fund manager retrieves prices manually without any problem.
If I close fund manager, I can open the file with notepad. If fund manager is open and I try to open the file with notepad I also get the "Failed to open" message.

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Perry

Hi Perry,

1) How exactly are you retrieving prices "automatically"? Do you mean you have the timer set under "Options / Internet Settings... / Automatic Retrieve / Frequency..."? If so, what are your settings there?

2) What version are you using? See "Help / About...".

3) Did this problem just start?
Thanks,
Mark

Yes the settings are shown below. I've never tried this before. It may somehow be a problem with my windows 11. I first tried to use windows task scheduler to retrieve prices with the /I /Q switches but my task scheduler will not run any programs in my Program Files (x86) directory. It will run programs in other directories.

Hi Perry,

It looks okay to me. What goes wrong when you try to run a program in Program Files (x86)? Are you getting some error?
Thanks,
Mark

In task scheduler nothing happens. No message of any kind and the program does not run.

I assume its my windows but won't be able to test that until I get a new computer and I don't see that happening for a few years.

Hi Perry,

You might check the settings, as you should be able to run a program out of the Program Files (x86) directory from Task Scheduler.
Thanks,
Mark
