Moving clientdb.fmc

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby jblankenship » Mon Dec 09, 2024 8:44 am

Is there a way to move the clientdb.fmc file? For whatever reason, my clientdb.fmc file was placed in a OneDrive path, and I'd like to have it in the same path as my data, which is on a Google Drive path. I've searched for a method to do this, and have not found anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jblankenship,

In normal mode, your clientdb.fmc file is stored in the "Documents \ Fund Manager" folder. The "Documents" folder location is determined by Windows.

In portable/cloud mode the clientdb.fmc file is stored in the "Data" folder under where you have Fund Manager installed.

So, unless you want to turn on portable/cloud mode, that file will always be stored in whatever your "Documents \ Fund Manager" folder is pointed to by Windows.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks - is there a downside to portable/cloud mode? Functionality the same, etc.?

The only slight downside is that loading and exiting might be a bit slower... Reading/writing preferences to the text file is slower than the registry. You probably wouldn't even notice the difference.
Thanks,
