Value matrix report

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Hi Mark,

Is there any report available that can summarize holdings values by symbol across multiple sub-portfolios in a portfolio, so you can see where the same investments (by symbol) are across multiple portfolios? For example, sub-portfolio name as column headers and symbols as rows, and the intersection being the value of that symbol in that sub-portfolio. I created one in excel with a pivot table from the Portfolio Value report, but it would be nice to be able to get it directly from FM. It helps me see where my total concentration in an investment is from the top level of the master portfolio, if I hold the same investments in multiple sub-portfolios. Thanks.

Hi bvzastrow,

Yes, you can do this in most of the reports by choosing "List By" as "Symbol". This choice will be available if you turn off "Subtotal By", or you have subtotals set to be by Sub-Portfolio.

If you want to focus just on one symbol you can also list by investment, but turn on the symbol filter.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Not sure you understood what I was asking. I have the same investment/symbol in multiple sub-portfolios. I want a cross tab report that will show me investment/symbol rows and columns for sub portfolio, so I can see how much of each symbol/investment I have in each sub portfolio, and then a total of each symbol/investment across all sub portfolios. Is there a report that does that?

Hi bvzastrow,

You can get the amount of a symbol/investment in each sub-portfolio and the total by doing a Portfolio Value report, subtotal by sub-portfolio, list by investment, and filter to include only the symbol in question. It isn't formatted with sub-portfolios as columns, but in sub-totals. The information you've described is all available with these report settings. Give it a try, and let me know if there is some information you're looking for that isn't available, but from what you've requested so far, it sounds like this will provide that data.
Thanks,
Mark
