Drag left
Zooms in on selected area. Scrolls selected investment to the top of the investment stack, and changes the number of displays to 1. (Zoom can be undone with the keyboard shortcut key 'u'.)
Shift - Drag left
Zooms in on selected date range. Scrolls selected investment to the top of the investment stack, and sets the number of displays to 1.
Ctrl - Drag left
Zooms in on selected scale. Scrolls selected investment to the top of the investment stack, and sets the number of displays to 1.
It's a request about zoom. I would appreciate if "Zooms in on selected date range" could be reassigned to Drag left instead of Shift + Drag left.
And so "Zooms in on selected area" reassigned to Shift + Drag left (or Ctrl + Drag left if we permute the set)
In graphs what we do the most is to change the date range only. It is (very) unfrequent that we want to change the Y-scale, because the Y-axis autoscale applies automatically the appropriate min and max.
When you zoom in a selected area you disable the autoscale to set some specific Y-scale min and max. And after that, you have to reactivate the autoscale because, otherwise, as soon as you select another date range (eg. by the drop down menu), it's a mess, the Y settings are not appropriate for the new date range.
I do a lot of graphical analysis and I am constantly changing the date range over different periods, and with the zoom too. I always want the autoscale to remain activated, so this requires me to press the Shift while dragging. It would be more ergonomic and I would be more efficient not to have to use a keyboard modifier for this.
Too, sometimes it can occur that I drag left on the graph unintentionally (for example, when I work with trendlines), and again in this case it completely messes up the graph, with a Y scale completely shrunk. It's always quite a surprising effect, and I think it must be very confusing for someone who is not familiar with the software, who need to understand what happened and find the way to reset the Y-scale, i.e. restore the autoscale.
For those reasons
1/ changing the date range without changing the Y-scale settings (ie. autoscale) is what we want in the vast majority of cases. It is rare that we want to change the Y-scale for some specific settings.
2/ changing the Y-scale settings is something that can be confusing, especially for those who are not very familiar with the software. "Zooms in on selected area" requires to restore manually after that the autoscale, and this is not something intuitive.
IMO it would be a good thing if "Zooms in on selected date range" could be reassigned to Drag left .
Thanks
