Report option "Not display invest. with zero share"

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

For reports, the option "Do Not display investments with zero share balance" should be definable separatly for each report (in report settings window), not globally as it is now in the report preferences.
For some reports, i want only the list of funds i currently have, for some others (performance comparisons) i want all the funds. It's annoying when you have to change this for all reports.

Thanks.

Hi Djobydjoba,

Thanks for the feedback. Just to make sure you know, even when this option is on, and investments with 0 shares are being hidden, their effects (if any) are still included in the overall portfolio numbers. This option only hides them from being a line item in the report, it does not exclude them from portfolio level calculations.

This will matter in a case where you choose to hide investments with 0 shares on the ending report date, but these investments did own shares within the report date range. In this case, they would be hidden, but still affect the portfolio's performance.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I knew this option was for display only.

Just to give an example, I've created a custom report to follow variations of the share price of all funds in FM. There are many funds i've created even if i don't really own them, but i want to follow them (like indexes). The option must be off for this report to see all of them.

But for reports about my real investments, the option must be on, to obtain a clean report without dozens of empty lines.

Hi Djobydjoba,

I see... Yes, it would give more flexibility if this were a per-report option instead of global.

One technique you may consider using as a work-around would be to leave the global option set to hide your zero shared investments, but when you want to see everything, select "View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios". When that option is turned on, all investments are displayed, no matter whether they are marked with the hidden attribute, or if your global report preference is set to not display zero shared investments.
Thanks,
Mark
