Multiple lots of the same security

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby rennman10 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 2:44 pm

I've just started taking a look at the software. So sorry if this is a basic question.

Is there a way to enter multiple lots of the same security as a single investment without creating a new "security" record for each lot?

thanks

Hi rennman10,

Yes. This is normal to record multiple transactions in the same security. You only need to create a new investment if you don't already have an investment in that account for that security. Once you have an investment created you can record as many transactions as you want in that one investment. You can use the "Data Register" here. Select the investment in the Data Register (Edit / All Data...) and set the "Data Type" to "Investments (all)" and then press "New..." to record a new buy or sell. You can also right mouse click on the investment, and choose 'Investment Data / Buy/Sell..." (or whatever other type of transaction you want to record).
Thanks,
Mark
