Net or Full Value of the Transaction in the Value Box

Sorry for the ignorant newby question, but when entering a buy transaction is the value of the commission included in the number I put in the Value field? That is, if I bought 100 shares at a price of $15/share with a commission of $9, do I enter $1,500 or $1,509?

Similarly, for a sell transaction, if I sell 100 shares at a price of $15/share with a $9 commission, do I enter $1,500 or $1,491?

Hi Ivan,

You do not include the commission in the Value field for either a buy or sell. One tip to help you remember this is if you look closely at the dialog it shows:

Value = Shares * Pirce

and then the "Commission" field is separate, on the line below.
