Download Vanguard Transactions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby ncrews » Tue May 03, 2011 6:06 pm

Hi Mark,

When I download Vanguard transactions, since upgrading to the latest version, I get four or five old transactions in addition to the new ones. I can uncheck the boxes and everything is OK but if I download with no new transactions, I still get the old bogus ones. They are all transactions from last year which converted investor shares to admiral shares. They were all previously entered.

Hi ncrews,

1) Are those transactions already in your FM investment, just like they are being downloaded? If you've changed them from how they are downloaded, then they won't be considered "already in Fund Manager".

2) Do you have on the option to "Skip Transactions Already in Fund Manager" turned on?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Norm,

My guess would be that somehow the transactions in FM are slightly different than the importing transactions. If you allow one of these duplicates to be imported, and then go compare the transactions (the one that was already in there, and the duplicate you just allowed), are they any different? You can just delete the duplicate transaction after doing this test.

The other thing you can do if you don't want to debug this is to just use a date range filter. In the transaction retrieve dialog, do not select the "All Dates" option, but instead choose a date range, starting from after this problematic date range, up through now.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Thank you. I have only downloaded Vanguard transactions. I have never manually entered a transaction. As I mentioned, this was never a problem prior to v.11.1. However, I will use the fix you mentioned. Thanks for your time and effort, as always.

Regards,

Norm

Hi Norm,

Another possibility is that in the old version they may have come in as Buy/Sell transactions, but in the new version they would come in as transfer in/out. You could just let the new transfer in/out come in, and delete the old buy/sell transactions, so they will be seen as "already in Fund Manager" going forward, in case you want to retrieve for all dates.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

On closer examination, all of the "duplicate" entries seem to be from the old investor class shares which were exchanged for admiral class shares. They are all now hidden. I think I'll just use a different date range and leave well enough alone.

Thanks again for all you do.
