Can't retrieve prices after virus attack

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby jnewton » Fri May 20, 2011 10:31 am

I recently had a virus infection. In the process of correcting I deleted internet history and tempory files. When I go to download prices A window pops up stating "could not create internet output log file 'path ...\intlog.xt' Please verify that you have write permission to this file and if it is not in use or locked by another application" Obviously some settings have been changed somewhere . How do I correct so I ca download prices?

Thanks..

Hi jnewton,

If you look at that path, do you see a intlog.txt file? Is it marked as read-only? Does that folder exist? Do you have write permission into that folder? Fund Manager stores log files in your user's "AppData \ Roaming \ Fund Manager" folder, so you should be able to write into that folder. This is where you log file should be going. If you can't get the permissions straightened out, try deleting that folder, and re-installing Fund Manager.
Thanks,
Mark

The file is there and is NOT marked read only. However the File Manager folder is marked with a green box as read only and all folders in the Application Data folder are marked as Read Only. Seems to only accept a change if the entire Application Folder is changed. Is this correct? I know you're not PC Tech Support, but are all these files supposed to be read-only?

Thanks

Hi jnewton,

I don't believe most files in there should be read-only normally.

Can you delete the intlog.txt file? You should be able to, and then try retrieving.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark:
So just delete the file and then try to downnlod the transactions? Asuume then that the retrieve process will re write the file. Also the intlog file anlong with most other files the Application\FundManager\ folder are marked as Hidden. Should they be Hidden files?

Thanks again

Hi jnewton,

No, these files are not created as hidden or read-only. You can safely delete the whole "AppData \ Roaming \ Fund Manager" folder while Fund Manager is not running. Re-start Fund Manager, and it will automatically re-create that folder for you.
Thanks,
Mark
