Problem retrieving UK stock prices in correct format

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby merlin » Tue Jul 12, 2011 3:03 pm

Hi, I'm just starting out with Fund Manager and very impressed so far, but having some problem getting prices for UK stocks in the correct format using the Yahoo UK & Ireland feed. For example, I want to record the purchase of 1,000 shares in stock ABC for £1000 and the software correctly records the initial share price at £1. However, the share feeds from Yahoo are expressed in UK pence, so the valuations then calculate 1,000 shares at 100 and overstate the final value by 100x. Is there any way of applying some factor to the download prices or some other workaround? Many thanks. :?

Hi merlin,

There are 2 ways you can correct this:

1) Record your UK based symbols with the extension of ".L". Any symbols with this extension will automatically be divided by 100 when updating from this quote server.

2) You can set a multiplication factor for the price retrieve of 0.01 under "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve / Multiple Retrieved Price By:".
Thanks,
Mark
