Distribution Entry Problem

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Ivan » Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:15 pm

Hi Mark,

I have an ETF which I sold and rebought a few days later. The period when I didn't own it included the ex-dividend date, so I didn't receive the dividend, even though I owned it on the payable date. I am trying to back enter that dividend (not reinvested, of course) to track how the ETF is performing, but FM won't let me enter it, presumably because I owned it on the payable date. When I enter "0" for the value, it doesn't bring up the next dialog to enter "Distribution per share." Not a major issue, but is there any way to get it in?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Yes, you can do this. Edit the investment properties, and on the "Other" tab, set the transaction entry preference to "Commission". Now, when you record your distribution you will see a date box that says "For Shares Owned On". You can enter the ex-dividend date, where you didn't own any shares. You will then be prompted for the distribution per share amount.
Thanks,
Mark
