Hi Mark,
RE: drop box and FM...
Is the "Save Investment On Exit" option associated with the saved Portfolio, or is it specific to each computer, like the category labels.
Thanks,
Michael

"Save investments on exit" option

Hi Michael,
This option is stored and recalled as part of your portfolio file (*.mm4). It is also saved as a default in the global registry preferences, but when you open a portfolio file, the value of this option is read in from the portfolio file.
Hi Michael,
Fund Manager does not support multiple users accessing the same data files at the same time. We may offer a "networkable" version in the future, but we don't have one today. I believe I understand what you're trying to do with dropbox. You may want to just turn that "Save Investments on Exit" option off, and then when you exit, it will prompt you if you've made changes, and you can just click "Yes" to save. FM will not exit when you've made changes without giving you an opportunity to save. If you want the second person to have a read-only version, you could make a backup for them, and they could restore to their own local copy.
Mark,
Can we just do "Save Portfolio As" instead of backup if we aren't going to restore registry or clients? And then make the newly named portfolio available to the second person? Thanks, Michael
Hi Michael,
When you do this, the new portfolio file is still pointing to the same underlying investment files (*.dat). Any changes they save would still affect your investments. However, if you turned off "Save Investments on Exit" in this second copy, and didn't mind both of you pointing to the same investments, you could do this.
