Investment Purchase Not Appearing in Cash Account

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Septaj » Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:50 am

For one investment only, a purchase does not appear in the cash account. The only distinctive thing about this investment is that the data is stored in a different folder from the others in that portfolio.

Thx

Hi Septaj,

Are you saying you sold some investment, and do not see the corresponding purchase into the default cash account? If so, check the sub-portfolio properties to see if you have a default cash account assigned.
Thanks,
Mark

Yes. Just the one investment. Purchases do not appear. The others are fine.

I have just copied the .dat into the same folder as the other investments in that portfolio. The problem remains!

Hi Septaj,

The location of the investment *.dat file on your computer has no effect on the corresponding entry in your default cash account. Look at the properties of the sub-portfolio containing your investment. What does it have set for the default cash account? Make sure it is your cash investment. Now, record a test purchase in some investment in this same sub-portfolio. You should then see a sell of cash for the amount of the purchase.
Thanks,
Mark

As I said, all other investments in this portfolio are fine. i.e. the purchases show up in the cash account. Only problem is with this one investment!

Hmmm .. I just "edited" the purchase in the problematic investment and everything seems OK.

Thx :)

Solved it.

The purchase had been entered in the investment held in another portfolio. When I opened the investment in the proper portfolio, the purchase showed in the register but was not debited from the cash account in the proper portfolio - until it was re-entered.
