General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

I got a message regarding some updates, so went ahead. This failed (sorry, but don't have the details - just followed the bouncing ball), but now any update I try gives me errors of the form;
"Could not load INTENG11X.DLL - make sure it is located in the same directory as fm.exe".
After a few more dialogues, the same thing is repeated with TRANRETR. Both of these have a 0 length .TMP file in the fm.exe directory, but no .DLL's.

Hi Andrew,
You might try the update again, by selecting "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". When you run this, make sure you are an admin user, and also make sure you have the latest version of Fund Manager (11.4), as earlier versions had a bug in updating these modules.

I reinstalled FM (11.4), then went and did an update, but have been back through the same cycle. It's back with no DLL, and 0 length .TMP's in their place?

Are you running Fund Manager under a user with admin permissions?

I'm running this on XP from an account that has full admin rights. I've finally got this to work by manually dragging the updates over, but for posterity, I've run this with a clean install, and logged every message.
- After manually triggering the "check for updates", a dialogue is displayed advising that retrieving status from Fund Manager - This returns with a server status page - OK to this - Then advises that an "updated quote module is available - currently have 424, 425 available. OK to retrieve update" - Next dialogue is "WinInet error code: 12029. A connect with the server could not be established" - When acknowledged, "WSAE: 12029" dialogue " When acknowledged "Failed to download INTENG11X.DLL. Retry or manually download from..."
At this point I took the advice and manually downloaded the INTENG11X and TRANRETR dll's, which all went ahead with no problems.

Hi iwik,
The main error messages here is a Wininet 12029. This is most often caused by a software firewall on your computer not allowing Fund Manager to access the internet. Do you have any firewall software? Can you make sure it is set to allow Fund Manager access? Sometimes if you update a program, like Fm.exe, you have to re-tell your firewall software that this new program is allowed access.

Hi Mark. That's possible, as definitely have a firewall in play here. It would normally advise if there is an outgoing request it knows nothing about. I can't see anything obvious at present, but knowing what its likely to be, I'll have a deeper look. Regards - Andrew

I get the same message about Inteng11x.dll not being in the same directory as fm.exe a but I don't have a firewall. My internet provider has the firewall function. Any other thoughts?

Hi SHosier, If you're using the 11.x versions, make sure you have 11.9. You can download that here: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/modlist.html#Last11xOnce you have 11.9 installed, use "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..." and allow it to download any missing or updated quote/transaction modules. There was a bug in early 11.x versions that prevented the updated, but this bug is fixed in 11.9.
