I have a number of stocks in a portfolio that I do not own. I track them using a 50, 100 and 200 day moving average so I will know when to buy them.
The other day when I retrieved historical prices for the six month period, the software also brought down any distributions that had been paid during that time period, even though I didn't own the stocks.
My software will not do it again. I really have wanted that to happen in the past but I figured for everything else the software does, I shouldn't be greedy. What happened that one day ???
If I own the shares and down load transactions from my brokerage account, the dividends always come too. But never for stocks/funds that I am just tracking and don't own.
What did I do that special day ??? Are you going to surprise me AGAIN and say "Sure, Gary. The software has always done that. You need to...."
I am thrilled with everything the software does now. I constantly find little things that I wish it would do. Then I think "I wonder if I..." and sure enough the software does it.
