NA in Monthly Performce Report

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby fundman247 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:13 am

Hi Mark,

I am finding the monthly performance report shows a NA for one specific month on all my portfolios when I had investments with a positive price movement during this specific month.

All the portfolios had investements long before the start date and still have money invested at the end date.

The month in question happens to be Aug 2010.

The date range I choose was Jan 2009 up to Oct 2012. All other months the performance is shown.

I have closed FM and opened it and the same month has a NA.

Hope you can help.

Regards.

Hi fundman247,

It sounds like you may be missing a price at the end of July 2010? Check your recorded prices in the Data Register under the "Prices" data type. You can also loosen up the interpolation range settings to be more flexible under "Options / Internet Settings...". This can help you determine if the problem is related to missing prices.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I have checked and I do have a price for 31Jul and 01Aug. Also I have changed the interpolation range to 5 days.

Further it is porffolio related. If I use all the investments that gives the above NA performance for Aug 2010 and open them in a separate portfolio they display the correct performance.

The portfolio that gives the NA for Aug 2010 does it for all (about 8) sub portfolios.

All these portfolios give the correct performance if opened as a portfolio on their own.

If you refer to the attached picture you will also notice that the total for the year and the total for all the months of Aug are not added up. May be this is due to the NA for Aug.

Regards.

Hi fundman247,

If you go to the "Yield Interpolation" dialog and set the options like this:

Enforce Max Interpolation: OFF
Allow Interpolation Prior... ON
Only Report ROI Yield When... OFF
Interpolation Type: STEP

Does that cause the August number to appear?

The "Total" column is for the whole year, and ROI yields for each month do not simply sum to get the total for the whole year.

The numbers along the bottom are averages, so if one of the months is reporting N/A, then the average will also report N/A.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Where do I find the interpolation dialog as I can only find something under OPTIONS > YIELDS > INTERPOLATION RANGE with the settings:
1. Enforce Max Interpolation range of ? days
2. Allow Interpolation price to earliest recorded price
3. Only report ROI yields when item is owned for entire yield term and
lastly the TYPE as linear or Step.

I have FM personal version 11.9

Regards.

Hi fundman247,

That is the dialog I'm talking about: "Options / Yield Interpolation Range...". Set the options like this:

Enforce Max Interpolation: OFF
Allow Interpolation Prior... ON
Only Report ROI Yield When... OFF
Interpolation Type: STEP
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. It does now show the Aug 2010 return.

Still wonder why it only showed the one month as NA.

Hi fundman247,

Try turning those options back one at a time, and see which one is causing the N/A. From this you can figure out why the yield is reporting N/A for that period.
Thanks,
Mark
