Portfolio opening/loading time

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Flijfi » Mon Oct 29, 2012 6:23 am

Hi,

I've noticed my portfolio is taking a long time to open, almost 2 minutes, and I feel this time has become longer over the time. The portfolio file size is 177KB (which looks small to me). The file is located on my local drive.

There is any maintenance action I may kate to reduce this loading time?
Is it "normal" behavior? What will happen as the data included grow more? what degradation may I expect?

Thanks,
Flijfi

Hi Flijfi,

I suspect you may have many reports/graphs open that are being calculated when you first start up Fund Manager. Please close any un-needed reports, and try opening Fund Manager again. There is a related FAQ describing this issue and how to fix it here:

Please let me know if this doesn't resolve the issue.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

It may be a different problem. I save the portfolio with no open reports (I even closed the Portfolio editor).
To pen the portfolio take over a minute.

Any ideas?

Hi Flijfi,

By "pen" the portfolio, do you mean you are plotting something? What windows do you have open? If you'd like to send us a backup of your portfolio, we can test it here, and see if we can reproduce the problem. To send a backup, use "File / Backup..." and send us that *.FMB file. I will send you an email, which you can reply to with the attachment.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I'm sorry, it was a typo for "open".
I have no windows open, just launch FM and it opens the last portfolio.

I will send you the backup file.

Thanks for looking at it.
