New Sub-Portfolio

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Mark,
I created a new sub-portfolio and entered some stocks into it. I then save the sub portfolio with the Master. However, when I go back to use that sub-portfolio I noted that the stock info was saved to a different directory. For example, if the Master and the subs are saved to XXX directory, I expected that the stock info would be saved there as well; but they are saved to a different directory, AAA. How do I make the system force the save of the stock info to the XXX directory without having to enter everything again?

Hi Johnreid,

It sounds like you are manually creating new investments. When you fill out the "New Investment" dialog, and press OK, you will be prompted for the filename and location of where to save this investment. This is where you would choose the location.

If you are automatically creating new investments, like when retrieving transactions, choose the "Options..." button on the retrieve dialog next to the "Create New Investments as Needed" option. That dialog allows you to specify the folder of where your investments are created.

If you want to move the location of all your investment files to a common folder, use "File / File Operations / Set Data Location...".
Thanks,
Mark
