new custom field question

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby chancee » Tue Dec 11, 2012 10:39 pm

Would the new custom investment fields in version 12 be something that would allow me to expand the possibilities when viewing the pie graph?

Currently I run and update two separate versions of Fund Manager (version 11). In one version I classify investments as either Equities or Fixed Income. In the second version I classify investments as either Small Caps, International, Large Caps, or Fixed Income.

Using the pie charts I can view each accordingly, depending on which FM I'm running. I have the Investment Goals fields tied up with something else so that's why I can use those. My question is, would this new version allow to be able to quit running two versions of Fund Manager?

Hi chancee,

The pie charts do not display based off these new custom investment properties. These new properties are not meant as a replacement/supplement to the category features. These properties can contain values themselves, which you can display in reports or in the Portfolio Editor. The properties can be defined by you as either a Date, a Number, or a Text string. When they are used as a Date or a Number you also define how you want the numbers combined. For example, on a Number, you can choose:

None (do not combine)
Sum
Average
Weighted Average
Minimum
Maximum

Back to your original question though... Why not use "Investment Type" and "Asset Type" for your two pie charts, in a single Fund Manager?
Thanks,
Mark
