Missing transactions in cash account

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby mse » Sun Jan 06, 2013 11:23 am

I am about done with transferring a number of positions into from one broker to another in Fund Manager. Along the way I accidentally did not set the default cash account for a new master portfolio, so now my Default Cash Account is missing a lot of transactions that should have been applied when stocks/options were traded in the new account.

Is there a maintenance technique to go back and retrieve missing stock and option transactions into the Default Cash Account without messing up the stock and option positions (which are correct now)?

Hi mse,

Sorry, no there isn't, but that would probably be a good utility to add... You're not the first person to run into this problem. Some ideas you can consider, probably based on how many transactions/investments you're talking about:

1) Manually add the cash side of the transactions
2) Use the Data Register and copy/paste the transaction. You can select one or more transactions, copy them, delete them, and then re-paste, and choose the option to apply to default cash account during the paste.
3) Export all your transactions in the sub-portfolio, and re-import them into a new sub-portfolio, this time using a default cash account. See the "Generic" export and import commands.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks -

What about closing and re-opening the investment files that contain the missing transactions? Does FM automatically apply the transactions to the cash account when you add an investment file?

Hi mse,

No... Opening an investment does not cause default cash account entries to be created.
Thanks,
