Hi Mark,

Would you consider adding a line item to reports (and wherever else it makes sense) for the sum of hidden investments?

Right now, I'm running quite a few reports to evaluate my portfolio for 2012. Hidden investments activities are included in the reports as they should be, but there's no line item (row) indicating how much of the reports subtotal comes from those investments. It's a bit confusing because I have turned off the "View Hidden Investments/Portfolio" switch, meaning that I only want to see unhidden investments. But the sum of the columns don't equal the subtotals. A line item called "Sum of Hidden Investments" would tell me exactly how much of the reports totals come from those investments, without having to view all the investments that were previously hidden.

Thanks for the consideration.

Hi aviator,

Interesting idea, thanks. This does cause confusion when there are hidden investments with non-zero values...
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

And just to complete my thoughts on Hidden Investments, it would be really nice if reports (and anywhere else it makes sense) differentiated between hidden and unhidden investments.

For example, when the switch to "View Hidden Investments/Portfolios" is checked (meaning I want to view Hidden Investments), the reports display Hidden Investments the same way as Unhidden Investments. It would be nice to have Hidden Investments italicized (or bolded or whatever makes sense) so that I can, at a glance, tell which investments are hidden and which aren't. (I realize I can create a custom report and display the Hidden field, but I prefer to limit how many custom reports I create and I try to use as many "stock" reports as possible.)

Thanks again for the consideration.

Hi aviator,

Okay, I can understand that. Along these lines we also have on our 'to-do' list to make a different colored icon for hidden investments in the Portfolio Editor.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I think a different colored icon would work well on the Portfolio Editor. I do hope you give equal consideration to other ways of viewing hidden investments, like reports and graphs. (I actually don't use graphs that often, so it's a presumption on my part, but I use reports and the Portfolio Editor extensively, and I see a real need for differentiating hidden vs unhidden investments.)

Thanks.
