Transaction Error - Missing Status?

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Stefan » Tue Mar 05, 2013 4:21 pm

Hello,
I have a few accounts with Morgan Stanley. Al my transaction retrievals work fine for all accounts EXCEPT for this one account where I get this error:

"Missing Status in INVSTMTTRNNRS Reply".

Sometimes, rarely, the transaction retrieve for this one account is succesful (so account number & pasword are OK) , but most times I get the error above.

Could you please let me know if there is a problem with the broker or the FM side of the transaction retrieval.

Thank you,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Are you using the latest transaction retrieve module? See "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". This doesn't sound like the problem, but is good to confirm anyway.

It sounds like an intermittent issue with the OFX server. Please save your ofxretr.txt and xmldump.txt log files right after both a successful and failed retrieve. These log files will be located here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Fund Manager

Please email us these log files, and we can take a look and see if there might be any clues to the problem.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I have emailed you the log files you requested at <deleted by moderator>.
The error is indeed intermittent, every one of 3 or 4 tries.

My transaction module is version 175 - the latest.

Thank you,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the log files. Both the "Ok" and "Error" log files looked okay, and imported okay here. Are you sure you took the "Error" log file snapshot after you received this error?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Itried again and here is what I did: I deleted both files and tried, and repeated, deleted both files and tried. After 3 tries I got the error. However, when the error ocurred, only the ofxretr.txt file swhich I sent you was created. The xmldump.txt was not generated at all!

Only when the transaction retrieve was succesful was the xmldump file created again.
So, I sent you only t e ofxretr file created when the transaction retireve failed.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the log file. The new log file you sent was formatted okay, and imported okay here again. I'm not sure what is happening here. If you use "File / Import / Transactions / Open Financial Exchange..." on the "bad" ofxretr.txt file, do you get that same error message?
Thanks,
Mark

No, I do not get any error if I do what you asked.

Here is a clear pattern:

Today is 3/5/2013

If I retrieve transactions starting in the 3/1 to 3/4 interval, to today => I get the error.
If I retrieve transactions for today, 3/5 (there aren't any) => it completes succesfully.
If I retrieve transactions starting on any date before 3/1/2013 to today (for instance2/1/2012 to 3/5/2013) => it completes succesfully.

So, the problem is, so far, has this pattern. It shows up only for transactions if the interval is any date starting from 3/1 to 3/4 to today, 3/5. Else, it doesn't show up.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the help. The part I don't understand is why the ofxretr.txt log file imports correctly, even when there is an error in retrieving. You should be getting the same import result whether retrieving or importing, as it should be importing that same file.

Why don't you call the office on Monday (the rest of this week is not good for me...), and we'll do a short web conference. Maybe I can spot the problem. If I can't see the problem, we'll have to create a special debug version to try and isolate what is happening.

Also, are you using the latest version (12.1)?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I appreciate you offering to wortk with me on fixing this.
However, I was not able to repro that anymore. I do not know what changed, outside the date.
If I can repro it consistently, I will let you know by Monday. But if I cannot, we'll leave it at that.

Thank you,
Stefan
