Split or Recombination Transaction Dialog

This dialog is available from the Edit / Split... menu command under the Graphs window.  It is also available at Edit / Investment Data / Split... in the Portfolio Editor window, or by right clicking on any investment and choosing the Investment Data / Split... popup menu command.

This dialog allows you to enter a stock split or recombination.

Date

The date the investment split or recombined.

Ratio

The ratio of the split or recombination.  The ratio values should be positive numbers. The ratio values do not have to be integers.
(Split Example: 2 for 1)
(Recombination Example: 1 for 2)

Memo

Optional transaction note associated with this split/recombination.

Comments: The View / Split Adjusted menu command controls the way investment data is viewed. When split adjustment is on, Fund Manager displays all historical prices and share balances prior to the date of each split to be consistent with prices and share balances after the split date. For example, if an investment split 2 for 1 all historical prices prior to the split date would be divided by 2. All transactions prior to the split date will also have the number of shares multiplied by 2, and the share purchase price divided by 2. When split adjustment is off, Fund Manager displays the data as it was for each date. In the split adjusted off mode, there will be sudden dips in the share price graph on the date of a split. In the split adjusted on mode, the share price graph will be relatively smooth through the dates of splits.

Regardless of the state of split adjustment, all transaction and price data is entered as it occurred on that particular date.

The state of split adjustment does control how historical prices are imported in the case where a split has occurred somewhere in the middle of the historical price database. If the historical prices being imported have been adjusted for splits already, turn on the split adjustment mode before importing. If the historical prices are not adjusted for splits, turn off the split adjustment mode before importing.
