: : : : I recently migrated from FM3.4 to FM4. When I start the
: : : : program and I am looking at the gray screen, I have the
: : : : option to open an investment or a portfolio. With 3.4
: : : : when I clicked either of those options it took me to
: : : : the "my data" folder and I made my selection. Now when
: : : : I select open investment or open portfolio, it takes me
: : : : to Look in .... Desktop. At that point I have to drill
: : : : down to the proper drive, proper program, folder etc,
: : : : until I get to "my data" where I can select what I
: : : : need. What am I doing wrong??????

: : : Does this always happen? I've had a couple other reports of this same problem, but haven't been able to reproduce it myself so far.

: : : Of course, the last
: : : folder you opened something from is suppose to be set as the default for the next time you want to
: : : open something. If you notice anything that could
: : : be of help in tracking this down it would be appreciated.

: : : Thanks,
: : : Mark

: : Could you try this?

: : After opening an investment, could you check the
: : value of the registry key:

: : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion\directory location

: : The "lastaccess" key should be set to the directory you just accessed. Is it?

: : Thanks,

: Strange things a happening. Opening FM first time
: this morning and Ihave to go thru the drill down
: routine to Look in ...My desktop.
: Check your post, and after getting to an investment
: registry key is "D:\finance\my data" ...the way it
: should be. Try to duplicate by a reboot ..no luck
: it now opened where it should "my data"
: However. I did duplicate it by doing this: I opened
: a stock (SBH), put a moving average overlay on the
: share price - (I even changed the default weeks in
: the moving avg if that should matter). I then
: closed that stock using close all. Clicking on the
: open portfolio icon it takes me back to Look in..
: Desktop and forces me to drill down.
: At this point registry lastaccess key changed to
: "D:\finance\my data\SBH" but it obviously didn't
: reopen there or to the complete list of investments.
: Hope this helps you uncover what may be wrong.

Thanks Doug,
Those are some good clues, especially the part
about have SBH as part of the key. I'll try
and figure this out.

Thanks,
Mark
