I have done random tests on a dozen funds in the Yahoo adjusted historical data base and the results are not good; most of the actual distribtions which typically occur in December are not recorded in this data base. I have had several exchanges with Mark Beiley on this subject and we did not resolve the problem. The problem is with Yahoo's data provider; I have emailed Yahoo Finance about this problem but have not received a reply to date. The best scenario, in my opinion, is to be able to download prices and distributions (when they occur), and adjust the investment file automatically on your own hard drive; i.e., when a distribution is received, prices prior to the distribution date are reduced by the distribution amount. Interestingly, this single problem prevents me from using Mark's fine program for my investment newsletter business.
