: Hi Mark,

: I want to store the FM settings that are contained in the Windows 98 registry into a separate file to be able to paste the settings into the registry following setting up Windows 98 after one of those not too seldom occuring crashes. As I am not very familiar with Windows can you give me some (easy) advice how to do this? There was some discussion on this topic in previous postings but it did not got into detail sufficiently so that I could make use of it.

: Greetings,

: Peter

Hi Peter,
As you already know FM stores many settings in the registry. The two
most common you may want to transfer to a new computer are the memorized
reports and category label names. If you want to do this you can just
export/import all the registry settings used by FM before you install FM
on your new computer. The installation program will set up all the
required new entries, like where FM is installed, but will leave alone
any other settings that are already there, like your memorized report
preferences.

Here's how you can do it:

Select "Start/Run..." and type in "regedit". Inside the Registry Editor
go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion

Hilight this folder and then select "Registry/Export Registry File". You
will export this branch to a file. You can then use this file to import
into your new computer with "Registry/Import Registry File".

Thanks,
Mark
