Dear Roy,

The best way to get historical data for exchange rates appears to be from the web page of the relevant Central Bank. I had a quick look at the Bank of England - they have the data you require - you can set a date range & determine what format you want the data in ie csv, excel etc. Of course after you have your historical data you can then get daily rates from yahoo.
