: : : : How can the automatic retrieval be set up for once a day at a specified time?

: : : Hi Gary,

: : : You can do this a couple of ways...

: : : 1) Leave FM running, and set the automatic retrieve frequency to 1440 minutes.

: : : 2) Set up a scheduled task in Windows.
: : : (Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled Tasks)
: : : Use Fund Manager's command line arguments to have it retrieve prices at
: : : a certain time of day. This method is better, as you can use it to update
: : : multiple portfolios if you'd like. Search the online help for "command line
: : : arguments". An example command line would be:

: : : "C:\Program Files\Fund Manager\fm.exe "C:\Data\FINANCE\MY_DATA\all.mm4" /I /Q

: : : Thanks,
: : : Mark

: : Okay - managed to get task scheduler working okay - however I have a password on my investments. Can I work this into command line so that there is no user intervention? If so - how do I implement. Thanks for your help! ;-)

: Hi Gary,

: Sorry, there is not a feature to add your password from the command line...
: I'm not sure the best way to deal with this. You really wouldn't
: want to store your password on a command line in a scheduled task either.
: That isn't a very safe place for your password. I'll have to give it a little
: thought. If you have any ideas please let me know.

: Thanks,
: Mark

Thanks Mark - the support you provide for Fund Manager is first class. This issue must have come up before, as users would want to secure the data, & also update without any user intervention? Maybe Fund Manager could operate behind some sort of barrier - say if I had a dedicated partition and secured or hid it - with Fund Manager operating without a password. ;-( Too early in the morning here (Aussie) for "out of the sqaure thinking"

Warmest regards Gary Wilson
