(BTW: I don't know if others find them useful, but I use trend lines ALL the time and find them very useful at decerning trading patterns) : This new suggestion is partly driven by my needs because I invest in Canadian stocks as well as US but I think that it would be a welcome addition to all users. : I expect that many people access information on stocks from multiple sources. Fund Manager presently only allows web information access from a single adjustable location under "Web news...". Yahoo is the default Web access target and is very good, but coverage is spotty for stocks listed on Canadian exchanges. Some Canadian stocks also trade under a different symbol on a US exchange and Yahoo coverage is much better for the US listing. And sometimes, if the stock is listed only on a Canadian exchange the best coverage is from a Canadian source ("http://www.globeinvestor.com/" for instance). I'm sure that some US investors would also like to pick from more than one source for stock news. : The following is an overview of my ideas to implement these features into Fund Manager: : If you were to allow multiple Web News URLs to be set up under preferences, then when "Web news..." menu item was selected, a dialog box could pop up allowing the user to simply pick from a list which news source they want. (The existing menu item actually implies a dialog box will pop up by use of the elipses...). This change would allow news from multiple sources based on the same ticker symbol. : Next embelishment would be to have a spot in the Investment Properties dialog box to specify an "alternate news ticker symbol". In my case I would use the Canadian symbol as I presently do for price downloads and for access to Yahoo news on the stock. For Canadian stocks that are also listed on a US exchange I would use the US symbol as my "alternate symbol" and setup the URL to get Yahoo news related to the US coverage of the stock. (this would of course require new symbol variables called something like : The final embelishment to put a friendly face on this would be a user friendly name to be specified for each Web news URL setup. This could be done in the dialog box where the news URL is set up, and would allow the URL to be picked from the proposed list more easily. : Comments? Questions? Hi Wayne, As usual, thanks for the well thought out feedback. I'm sure this would Thanks,
