I have recently started using AOL 9.0. They have changed the format of their portfolio system and I haven't been able to update my portfolios in about one week (it is killing me)! Do you have any recommendations. : : I read your previous message about the Yahoo retrievals. I have never tried this method. I went to edit/retrieva/settings and it looks like I will need a password/security key. I am lost. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. : : I would like to continue using AOL, is at all possible. : : Jerry : Hi Jerry, : The password/security key is only for retrieving transactions. The internet : retrieve is much easier than importing from AOL. All you have to do is press : the internet price retrieve button on the toolbar, and you're done. If you'd : like to stick with importing from AOL though, here are the updated instructions: : 1. Sign on to America Online. Go to the keyword "portfolio" (use the keyboard accelerator CTRL + K or the menu item Go To/Keyword...). : 2. If you do not already have a portfolio set up, you may do so from here. You may create new portfolios, delete portfolios, or add/remove items from existing portfolios. : 3. When you have your portfolio(s) set up, display your portfolio by clicking on the link to your portfolio. : 4. Under the “Portfolio Views” change it to “Trading Day” click the “Go” button. : 5. Next, save your portfolio to your hard disk. Select the "Download" button. Choose the “comma separated values (*.csv)” option and click the “Download” button. This will present you with a dialog box allowing you to specify any path and filename for your portfolio that you choose. : 6. Sign off of America Online. : 7. If Fund Manager is not already running, start it now. : 8. Open all the investments that you would like to update the prices for (use a FM portfolio to open up to 500 investments automatically). The investments must have the correct symbols assigned to them. The symbol was assigned when the investment was created, and can be edited using the Edit/Investment Properties/General menu command. The symbols in Fund Manager must be the same symbols in your America Online portfolio. This is how Fund Manager determines which investments to update. : 9. Choose the menu command "File/Import/Prices/Generic . . .". In this dialog you will “Specify” the date, but not the symbol. For the format string use: : SYMB,NAV,XX,XX,VV,HH,LL : Select the file you downloaded in step 5, and press the “Import” button. : If you have the "confirmation notices" option turned on you will be informed how many investments had their prices updated successfully. : Thanks, : Mark : -- : Mark Beiley : : Fund Manager, portfolio management software for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/00/XP : I tried using the PRC button on the toolbar and you are right it is much easier than using AOL. I never realized that I could update prices that way. Jerry
