: I purchased 1,500 units of a Unit Trust at $10 per unit. About three month later they returned $2,600 of my investment as a non taxable return of capital. I still have 1,500 units but they now have a lower cost basis. How can I track the cost basis of this type of investment?

Hi Robert,

You'd want to record a distribution of $2600. For the "Type" of distribution,
choose "Return of Capital". This will take care of properly adjusting your
tax cost basis.

Thanks,
Mark
