I want to update and track my portfolio and compare its performance with the DJI, S&P, NASDAQ, or other indexes. Assuming I figure out how to download daily closing for whichever index I choose, how do I then impose that on the portfolio value graph I always use, which always starts from my "baseline" date and value about 10 yrs ago? Do I make the index a "stock" and fake the number of shares so the index line starts at the same absolute dollar value on the vertical axis as the portfolio, or is there some other better way?
