: Hi Mark,

: I am having a little trouble with foreign currencies. I want to make the default currency the Cdn dollar and I am not clear on how to do this. Second I am having trouble finding symbols for currencies on Yahoo. I looked up the currencies and they say to use a format that looks as follows USDCAD=X. But when I try to retrieve the currency using this symbol it says it cannot find it. You suggested ^ccd as the Cdn dollar symbol and this works fine but I also want to use Euros, Pounds, HK dollars, Yen, Australian dollars, Danish Kroner, Irish Punts and New Zealand dollars. When I looked up these currencies in Yahoo they use the sam USDCAD=X format but I cannot get any of them to retreive prices.

: Hope you can help. Your other tips have worked nicely.

: Thanks, Lance

Hi Lance,

Are you using just the regular daily "Yahoo" server? If so, USDCAD=X should
work fine. I did just test it to make sure. If you're trying to get
historical quotes for this exchange rate, the Yahoo Historical server doesn't
seem to have them. We actually had a rather long discussion on this topic
a while ago. Search for the topic "Canadian currency exchange" on this
message board for a discussion about options for getting historical prices
for this exchange rate.

As far as setting up your currency settings, see "Options / Currency Settings".
Make the CDN $ your default with whatever symbol you want. You'll probably
want to set up an exchange rate investment to monitor CADUSD=X, which will
give you how many USD equal 1 CDN dollar. Assign this exchange rate investment
for the USD in this dialog.

Thanks,
Mark
