: I'm looking for a substitute for a display function which I used to have on the free MSN Investor portfolio tracker, until the latest update ruined it.

: I'm running FM 5.2. I'd like to see the percentage change between the current (=last update) value of the entire portfolio and yesterday's closing value, and compare it onscreen somehow with the corresponding changes in the S&P 500, to compare my today's performance with the S&P 500. How can I do this, if at all?

: Thanks.

Hi David,

You have a couple of options, either graphical or in report format. For
a graphical display, use the "Portfolio / Investment(s) Overlay -> Value"
graph type. Choose the S&P 500 investment to overlay under the "Graphs /
Options / Overlaid Investments..." dialog. This graph legend does not
show percentage change, but it shows actual value change. The S&P investment
will be plotted with a value, as if you had invested all your portfolio's
money into the S&P instead of into your portfolio as you did.

The report format is using the "Custom" report. You can use the "Percent
change in value from previous" field. For this to work for an S&P 500
investment, you will need to have some value in this investment. You can
make it a value of $1, so as to not throw off your total portfolio value.

Thanks,
Mark
