: : Since I installed ServicePack 2 on my Win XP laptop, it takes forever (well 30 seconds) to open a portfolio. Before it took maybe 1 to 3 seconds. Is anyone having the same problem? Maybe Mark has a patch?

: Hi Chuck,

: I'm not aware of any problems related to SP2 yet. Do you see flashing, like
: it is creating a lot of reports? Have you tried the age-old remedy of
: re-booting?

: Thanks,

I ran Window's disk tools last night, and got Fund Manager to load files much quicker. Installing SP2 involves moving a lot of files around, and apparently Fund Manager got in the way. Bringing the F/M files back together helped a lot.

But still not the same as before SP2. One of Microsoft's "great" new tools in SP2 is the real time virus scanner. I suspect that this little piece of code is adding overhead to every file-open operation. And Fund Manager opens a lot of files in a large portfolio. So I might be stuck at this point because I don't see anyway to turn off the virus scanner.
