: Hello!

: We manage 35 portfolios and will have to reconstuct them, some going back to 1996. How can I retrieve historic prices over a span of years for each investment as it entered the portfolio? We've been using Captools where you click on a symbol and a drop down for historic prices takes you to Yahoo historical site for dates to be entered for that particular symbol. We like your program because our needs don't require the hundreds of reports and other bells and whistles in Captools and your's has a simpler logic to it (and a much better price!!!) so we're looking to switch.

: Thanks for any info you can pass on about retrieving historic prices.

: Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Getting historical prices is really pretty easy. Just set your quote server
to one of the historical ones, like "Yahoo (Historical)" and then do a price
retrieve. To set the quote server use "Options / Internet Settings...". To
do a price retrieve just click the "PRC" button on the toolbar (picture with
a blue up arrow), or use the menu command "Edit / Internet Retrieve / Prices".
This will update historical prices for all your open investments. If you'd
rather only update a particular investment or a select few, go to the
Portfolio Editor (View / Portfolio Editor) and select the investments you
want to update, and then right mouse click to choose "Retrieve Selected Prices".

Please let me know if you have any questions. You may also want to read this
page, it has some more info on price retrieving:
