: I know this is a 'newbie' question, but I have read through all the posts and cannot find anything that correlates to this question.

: I have 5 portfolios spread over 3 brokerages. I set up my 'master' portfolio for the largest amount of holdings and created sub folios under that. The sub portfolios have totals connected to them that can be tracked, but the master portfolio only has the assets listed WITHOUT a total for it. I can see where you could set up each portfolio indivually and track each one independently, but that seems to me to be inefficient as you would lose the ability to update all of them at one time.

: Is there a way to have totals associated with each individual portfolio, including the 'master' portfolio, and still maintain the Master/sub-portfolio structure?

Hi Steve,

You can have totals shown for any portfolio, including your top level (master)
portfolio in reports or graphs. I suspect you're looking in the Portfolio
Editor window, and can't get information on your master portfolio
to show up on the right hand side? This is correct, only the "contents"
of the selected portfolio on the left side of the Portfolio Editor window
will show up on the right hand side. If you really wanted to, you could
create another level of hierarchy, so you could select a portfolio and it
would include just your master portfolio, which would then be shown on the
right.

You might prefer to create a report, and create it for your master portfolio,
which will then show you the values for this level of portfolio.

It sounds like you put some investments directly into your master portfolio?
You may prefer to organize all your investments into sub-portfolios below
the master, and then the master is just a rollup of all the sub-portfolios.
For example, see the screen shot on this page:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help/ui_portedit.html

There are no investments in the Master Portfolio. Instead, all the investments
are located in the 4 sub-portfolios.

You can organize your sub-portfolios/investments however you want, but when
reporting on a portfolio that portfolio includes any investments plus any
sub-portfolios beneath it.

Thanks,
Mark
