Hi Don,

Yes, you can indeed use the Generic transaction import to record positions.
The Generic import is available under "File / Import / Transactions / Generic...".
It can read a .CSV file or any other text based file. Press the "Help" button
from within this dialog. Here's a very quick tutorial:

Example line from .CSV:
2/28/2003,Client A Portfolio,INTC,25.25,300,0

and when importing you could use the "Format String":

MM/DD/YY,PORT,SYMB,ANUM,BNUM,CNUM

If INTC didn't exist in the "Client A Portfolio" it would be created. A
purchase of 300 shares at $25.25/share (with $0 commission) would be
recorded for 2/28/2003.

The above example doesn't use the "TRAN" keyword, so it defaults to a BUY
transaction type, but you can also use the generic transaction import to
import other kinds of transactions.

Thanks,
Mark
