: Hi,

: I just started with the program and I am trying to figure out a way to display the average price per share I have paid for a stock over many transactions. I would like to display it in the portfolio editor portion fo the scree along
: with the stock listing.

: I would also like to know what the difference in calculation is of historical and current gain. The display of historical looks correct but I can't make sense out of the current gain number. Lastly, what does the oop stand for?

: Thanks for the help,

: Brian

Hi Brian,

You can see all of the available columns for the Portfolio Editor by choosing "View / List Columns...". You can display your tax cost basis or your out of pocket cost basis for all shares, but there isn't a per share field available currently. That would be a good one to add. You can get this in a custom report, but not as a column in the Portfolio Editor.

Historical basis/gain values include all your recorded transactions, even sold ones. Current only includes the currently owned positions.

"OOP" is short for "Out Of Pocket". This cost basis/gain can be different than your tax basis/gain due to reinvested distributions. When you reinvest a distribution, your tax cost basis goes up, but your out of pocket basis does not. The OOP is meant to help show your overall break even point. The gain/cost values plotted on the graphs all use OOP as opposed to tax basis.

Thanks,
Mark
